I had never heard of this emergency bandage until I heard mention of it in an article about the first responders going to the Uvalde incident! I Googled it promptly.
In my vehicle for decades I have carried a military surplus ammunition can (strong, weather sealed) stocked with first aid supplies including plenty of wide elastic bandage rolls and for absorbency including women's sanitary napkins because they are ideally designed for absorbency. I also carried a couple of "vintage" military style wound bandages (factory sealed) because the plastic packages could be reversed (sanitary) to cover what the Army called (as I learned in Basic Training circa 1975) "sucking chest wounds". Standard first aid kits carry a few simple square gauze packs which are inadequate for severe injuries with massive bleeding.
I am amazed at the versatility of this Israeli TE bandage which can be used for the simplest to the most complex situations. I now carry this and the only thing I might add to the pack is Naloxone.
I'm a retired educator, ham radio operator, and former military/civilian law enforcement guy who carries emergency gear in his vehicle just in case... Now for my rant!
I recall in the police academy seeing a cartoon. It showed a simple pencil drawing of a cyclist down with tire tracks across the body. The caption said, "Better call the U-H-O-H Squad. In the second frame there was a crowd with someone saying "Uh Oh! I won't be one of those in the crowd. Nowadays it's the crowd standing and taking video with their cell phones instead of doing something. Perhaps they are thinking the video is worth something to the lawyers bringing lawsuits by the parties involved. Don't get me started!
